Hatta Byng Announced As Editor Of House & Garden

Nicholas Coleridge, President of Condé Nast International and Managing Director of Condé Nast Britain, has announced that Henrietta - 'Hatta' - Byng will be the new editor of House & Garden. Hatta will take up the new role in October, following the retirement of Susan Crewe.

“Hatta’s experience makes her perfectly placed to take on the role of Editor of Britain’s leading international design and decoration media brand. Hatta has the respect of the interiors industry, together with that of her colleagues at House & Garden,” commented Coleridge.

Hatta is currently Deputy Editor of House & Garden. She arrived at the magazine as Features Editor in 2006, and was promoted to Senior Features Editor in 2010, during which time she created the ‘Green by Design’ supplement that has been repeated for the last five years. Hatta has also worked as an interior designer, as well as for the South African edition of House & Garden.

“I am thrilled to become Editor of House & Garden - a magazine which is the leader in its field and a benchmark of taste and style. A beautiful, useful and respected magazine, it is considered a must-read for the design industry as well as for people decorating their own houses. I feel honoured to be asked to take this magazine forward, leading its talented team and shaping its contents. It is a privilege to be filling the very large shoes vacated by the legendary Sue Crewe,” added Hatta Byng.

Sue Crewe has been at the helm of House & Garden for over twenty years. The two annual House & Garden Fairs – Spirit of Summer now in its fifth year, and Spirit of Christmas in its twelfth - were both launched during her tenure. The new House & Garden website, House, was launched earlier this year.
