ICIS Power Index removes power price myths

ICIS is now providing a user-friendly index detailing price trends – the first time, says RBI, this information has been made easy for households, smaller energy buyers and policy makers to access.

The ICIS Power Index (IPI), which is available free online, creates transparency by using electricity trading data reported by buyers and sellers to ICIS as part of its market reporting business, so everyone can see what the electricity price has been based on. It also shows the history of price movements, as the data has been calculated back to 2011.

Head of Power at ICIS Zoe Double says: “We assess more than 40 different price points every day on the UK electricity market, so the question for consumers is, which of these do I look at to see if energy prices are going up or down? The IPI will give everyone one number that’s easy to track."
