Record breaking August for RadioTimes.com

RadioTimes.com recorded the busiest month in its history in August with 4.5 million unique visitors to the site, compared to 2.7 million in August 2013, a 65% year-on-year growth.

Contributing to the record-breaking month, RadioTimes.com also recorded its busiest day ever on Wednesday 27 August, with over 537,500 visitors to the site, say the publishers. The return of Doctor Who and The Great British Bake Off, which both have their own dedicated mini-sites on RadioTimes.com, alongside original content, such as the Radio Times Television Champion 2014 which generated over nine million votes over three weeks, were among the content highlights in what is a traditionally quiet month for the site.

Tim Glanfield, Editor RadioTimes.com & Digital Products, says: “The visitor numbers to RadioTimes.com are a great testament to the hard work, never-say-die spirit, relentless innovation, and brilliant creativity of a team I'm very proud to work with. What a thrill it is to see our award-winning website continue to grow so rapidly in size, stature and style; a particular triumph considering August has traditionally been the slowest month for the site. It's a very exciting time for Radio Times digital as we continue to expand on the web, on mobile and beyond.”

Since becoming part of Immediate Media Co in November 2011, there has been an increased investment across Radio Times’ digital portfolio: including a redesign of the site; an increased focus in TV, radio and entertainment news and content, alongside comprehensive TV and radio listings; and an enlarged editorial team. Most recently Radio Times launched a digital edition on Apple’s Newsstand, as well as the RadioTimes Discover TV iPad App in November 2013.

In addition to recording breaking visitor numbers RadioTimes.com was named Best Lifestyle/Leisure News Site and awarded the Chairman’s Award at the 2014 Online Media Awards, whilst RadioTimes Discover TV iPad App won the Launch of the Year awards at the 2014 AOP Awards and Digital Innovation of the Year Award at the 2014 PPA Awards.
