amNewYork launches new app powered by PageSuite platform

amNewYork, one of the most widely circulated free daily newspapers in the United States, has announced the release of its new app for iOS and Android phone and tablet devices.

PageSuite worked with amNewYork to develop the new app, which was built on Pagesuite’s platform. The app is currently available for download.

With real-time feeds taken directly from amNewYork’s content management system, readers have access to 24/7 news coverage and continual news alerts on their devices. Additionally, the app offers live updates from the local Metropolitan Transportation Authority, enabling readers to stay abreast of the latest transit alerts across New York City.

In addition, a sync feature allows readers to download and store articles for offline reading, which is convenient when navigating the NYC subway system, says PageSuite.

A daily e-edition is available on the app and is an exact replica of the newspaper with click-thrus for banner ads and hotspots, offering readers an enhanced multimedia experience. The app also offers personalisation options, a dedicated photo gallery section, and encourages engagement and interactivity through features such as ‘Snap&Send,’ which allows users to send photos or videos directly to amNewYork. Users can also comment on stories via their Facebook login.

For advertisers, the new amNewYork app offers numerous opportunities, including full-page interstitials.
