Archant London appoints new digital chief

Archant London has announced the appointment of former Trinity Mirror digital head Paul Hood as its digital director.

Reporting into Archant London’s managing director Enzo Testa, Paul's role will be to lead digital initiatives across the company’s portfolio of London newspapers and magazines, aiming to grow audiences and boost digital revenues.

Paul (pictured) said: “I'm really excited about the opportunities. Archant is in a unique position in London, providing invaluable local news and a community service and playing an important role in the lives of hundreds of thousands of Londoners every week. The trust that our readers have in our brands gives us the opportunity to continue to be as relevant and useful to our readers in the online and mobile environments.

“It's clear to me that there's a really dedicated and passionate team here in London, and some of the initiatives already started are fantastic. I'm delighted to be joining the team,” said Paul.

“Our stock in trade - local news - still has tremendous value; it helps people discover and engage with the area they live or work. Our challenge is to make this great content more nimble, to free it from traditional platform constraints, to let it travel to the places where it is most relevant.

“The prize is for Archant London to become a daily part of 6 million Londoners' daily lives, and to become the definitive London guide for visitors from around the country and across the world for the 2012 Olympics.”
