Architectural Digest to launch in the Middle East

Architectural Digest magazine will be launched in the Middle East in Spring 2015, it was announced yesterday by Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman and Chief Executive of Condé Nast International.

Like all overseas editions of the decorating magazine, it will be known as AD. It will be published in English under a licence agreement with Dubai-based Arab Publishing Partners (APP), a division of the ITP Group, the Gulf’s largest consumer and business magazine publisher. AD Middle East will be the eleventh global edition of the magazine.

“AD is hugely respected as the international authority on decoration and design. It is exciting to bring it to the Middle East,” commented Newhouse.

Ali Akawi, Managing Director of APP & ITP Consumer, said “The GCC has some of the fastest growing cities in the world with ambitions to create entirely new modern landscapes and ‘cities within cities’ in the next ten years. Architecture and design will be key to fulfilling this vision and the recent expansion in the number of commissioned projects – both residential and commercial – is evidence that there is now a need for individuality and unique builds. AD Middle East will showcase global and regional unique design to both inspire and educate its readers.”

Carol Cornuau, President Condé Nast New Markets, added “Following the success of Condé Nast Traveller in the Middle East, we’re looking forward to extending our portfolio with AD, the most trusted authority on design, architecture and living.”

AD currently has ten editions globally including the USA, Italy, Germany, France, Mexico, Latin America, Russia, Spain, China and India with a global readership of over 6.8 million a month, says Condé Nast International. The magazine is an international media leader in design and architecture, offering its readers access to some of the world’s most stunning design spaces.

AD will be the second Condé Nast International title published in the region, following the launch of Condé Nast Traveller Middle East in 2013, also published under licence agreement with APP.
