As a result, Matthew Fraser Moat will cease to be the publisher and this role will now be taken over by Richard Hughes.
“After 11 years of publishing Athletics Weekly, the directors of Descartes feel it is time to pass on the reins,” says Fraser Moat. “Our 578 issues have been extremely enjoyable and we wish to thank all our staff, contributors and suppliers, but also our readers for their continued support and loyalty.”
Hughes says: “Firstly I wish to thank Matthew for his safe stewardship of this iconic brand and for handing it over in such a robust and healthy condition. It will be a challenge to continue to provide such a high quality product."
He adds: “The coming years offer an exciting range of communication routes and the company intends to deliver on many of these, building on the work already undertaken by AW with the digital editions, iPhone apps and iPad versions.
"I am very excited about AW’s, future and working with all those involved in its production, while at the same time continuing to develop AW as the world’s leading weekly athletics publication at the heart of this sport.”
