Autosport launches iPad app

Autosport, Haymarket’s weekly motorsport magazine, has launched its iPad app on the Apple Newsstand.

The app is primarily a digital version of the magazine, although Autosport is adding video and audio content each week with further interactivity planned for the future.

Autosport editor-in-chief Andy van de Burgt said: “The ability to embed audio and video means we can create a truly immersive product that takes our readers into the heart of the sport we are so passionate about.

“But we have only scratched the surface of the possibilities this opens up for Autosport and it shows what an exciting future lies ahead.”

The app has already seen promising initial results, selling several hundred issues a week with a high conversion rate in terms of purchases per app downloaded, say the publishers.

Autosport publisher Rob Aherne said: “The app is the latest stage of plans to make Autosport the world’s leading multi-platform motorsport brand, and it will be hugely exciting to see where tablet development takes us.”

The app is free to download, with each issue costing £2.99 via in-app purchase.
