Bauer Media’s UK Publishing business on Friday announced the appointment of two new Publisher roles.

Tammi Townley joins as Publisher for the Women’s Mass and Celebrity portfolio, reporting to Helen Morris, Group Managing Director of Bauer Media UK’s Women’s Mass & Celebrity, Premium and Entertainment titles.

With a publishing career spanning over 20 years, Tammi has a wealth of experience in both men’s and women’s titles, having previously been the Brand Publisher for Look, NME, Now, Uncut and Nuts at Time Inc/IPC Media.

Tammi spearheaded the launch of multiple fashion and music brands across print and digital platforms and her teams were instrumental in developing and launching brand extensions such as the Look Fashion Show and the NME Awards.

Commenting on her appointment, she said: “I am extremely excited to be joining Bauer as the Publisher for Women's Mass & Celebrity. It is a challenging but hugely exciting time to be developing leading brands and working with inspiring, creative, forward-thinking, highly motivated teams. It feels like I’m coming home!”

Helen added: “I am really pleased that Tammi will be joining the UK publishing team. She’s an experienced publisher having worked across multi-platform brands for many years. With her knowledge of these markets and her enthusiasm I know she will hit the ground running to help drive growth in this portfolio.”

John Simmonds joins as Publisher of the Print Puzzles portfolio, reporting to Liz Watkinson, Group MD of the TV, Real Life, Puzzles & Astro portfolios.

John has over 20 years’ experience in sales and marketing roles across newspaper and magazine publishing. He began his career in magazines with Marketforce before moving to national newspapers with The Independent, subsequently becoming Circulation Director. John was part of the team behind the successful launch of the i newspaper and since leaving The Independent he has been working with Positive News Magazine, and other independent publishers, to grow their audiences and increase their revenues.

Commenting on his appointment, John said: “I’m thrilled to be joining Bauer Media and the people that make it the UK’s biggest selling magazine publisher. The opportunity to work in the Puzzle category and with the team that has made the magazines such a success is an exciting prospect - and I look forward to adding to this success.”

Liz Watkinson added: “I am delighted to have John joining Bauer Media as the publisher of the print puzzles portfolio. John’s knowledge of distribution and retail will be a great asset to help drive the growth of our successful puzzle brands. We have a passionate team of puzzle experts and under John’s management I know they will continue to innovate and be market leading.”

John began his role last week and Tammi joins the company on 6 July.
