Royal College of Surgeons appoints BMJ as international sales partner

The Royal College of Surgeons (RCS) has appointed global healthcare knowledge provider, BMJ, as its international sales partner for institutional customers.

The arrangement takes advantage of BMJ’s extensive global customer base and its track record in providing access to professional content in the institutional sector worldwide.

The deal covers all three RCS titles, including the official journal of the College, Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England - one of the most widely read journals across the surgical specialties in the UK.

Under the new arrangement BMJ will take responsibility for all institutional sales of RCS titles around the world. This appointment strengthens the College’s global reach and customer support network, says BMJ.

In addition to the Annals of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, BMJ will now sell The Bulletin and the Faculty of Dental Surgery Journal (FDJ), which won the 2013 Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers Award for Best New Journal, to institutions outside of the UK.

Commenting on the new partnership, Peter Ashman, BMJ Publishing Director, said: "The goals of our two organisations are aligned: The Royal College of Surgeons of England is committed to enabling surgeons to achieve and maintain the highest standards of surgical practice and patient care, while BMJ aims to create a healthier world. I look forward to making the most of these complementary strategies and to bringing the RCS journals to the wider international community of surgeons.”

Professor Neil Mortensen, RCS Trustee and Chair of the RCS Journals Committee, added: “We’re delighted to be working with BMJ and I hope and expect that this will bring the RCS journals to a whole new international audience.”
