Bauer to publish That’s Life Crime Scene monthly

Bauer Media UK’s weekly real-life title ‘that’s life’ is to increase the frequency of its true-crime spin-off Crime Scene to monthly.

Sophie Hearsey: “Readers of Crime Scene have been begging us to give them more.”

Launched in 2015 as a one-shot and thereafter published five times a year, Crime Scene features a mix of first person real-life crime, and crime-themed puzzles and prizes which have already proved to be popular with readers, says Bauer Media.

According to the publishers, Crime Scene includes hard-hitting UK stories featuring women who have been victims of, or witnesses to, terrible crimes. In an echo to its parent title, that’s life!, the dramatic stories are offset by lighter elements, such as cops behaving badly, quizzes to find out if you’d make a good detective and confessions about how readers got back at cheating partners.

Crime Scene was the innovation of that’s life! editor-in-chief, Sophie Hearsey who commented: “No two issues of Crime Scene are the same. We aim to bring the whole crime spectrum to the publication, from the detailed first-person stories, to the accounts of doctors working in prisons, or readers describing how they’ve found themselves face-to-face with infamous serial killers. We work very hard to put a crime-twist on our brilliant puzzles, as well as offering fantastic crime prizes. For the last year, readers of Crime Scene have been begging us to give them more.”

The first monthly issue, priced at £2.10, is on sale now with the second issue on newsstands from 11 February.
