BBC History launches WWII bookazine

BBC History Magazine has launched a 116-page bookazine, The Second World War Story, to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the start of the conflict.

Priced £5.99, the perfect bound title will be on sale exclusively at WH Smith from 15 September and has an initial print run of 30,000.

The special edition is a comprehensive guide to the conflict and features a collection of the best articles on the Second World War from past issues of BBC History Magazine, alongside specially commissioned features by the country’s leading historians and first-hand accounts from war veterans.

Content includes: a pictorial timeline by Terry Charman of the Imperial War Museum; features on the Battle of Britain, the D-Day campaign and VE Day; and a guide to researching ancestors who fought in the war.

Dave Musgrove, Editor of BBC History Magazine, commented: “The 70th anniversary of the start of the Second World War marks a poignant time to reflect on the story of the conflict. This new BBC History Magazine special edition brings together a selection of features from big name historians charting how and why some of the key moments in the war came about.”
