Bloomberg Launches Free London Newsletter

Bloomberg BRIEF, the electronic newsletter division of Bloomberg L.P. has launched the London BRIEF, a free newsletter published weekdays showcasing the best of Bloomberg’s coverage of business, politics and culture in the UK capital.

Published each weekday at 5pm London time, the newsletter is targeted at commuters working in the Square Mile, Westminster and beyond. A select group representing this audience has been able to receive a beta version of the new edition since February and, with more than 10,000 registered recipients subscribed, it’s now being made more widely available via www.bloombergbriefs.com/london

According to Bloomberg, the London BRIEF is delivered on an innovative, web-based platform that provides an optimal experience for people who read on mobile phones, desktops or in print. The London BRIEF has the same look and feel as the family of 19 Bloomberg BRIEF newsletters first launched in 2010 and relies on Bloomberg’s proprietary news, data and analysis. Bloomberg BRIEFs now reach 265,000 global subscribers to the Bloomberg Professional service.

“Bloomberg’s European headquarters in London has increasingly become the place where the UK’s leading figures in government, business and finance gather to discuss the most important issues of the day and reach the audiences with whom they need to engage,” says Constantin Cotzias, director Bloomberg, EMEA. “The London BRIEF serves and represents that community and is further evidence of both our role as a convenor and our commitment to London as a global capital of finance, business and culture,” he adds.

The London BRIEF takes advantage of reporting from Bloomberg News and carries original content written by editor Ainsley Thomson. The newsletter’s Business and Politics pages provide breaking news from the City and Westminster, while the Out of Office section helps keep Londoners informed about what’s happening around town, with diverse articles ranging from restaurant, wine and car reviews to profiles and sports reports. The popular Boris Watch column takes an irreverent look at what the mayor is doing each day using photos, tweets and quotes to keep an eye on life at City Hall.

CMC Markets, a global provider of financial spread betting, CFD and foreign exchange (FX) has signed up as the launch sponsor of the London BRIEF newsletter.

Ted Merz, News Content Business Manager, Bloomberg says: “Bloomberg is the global leader in delivering fast, accurate and actionable information. Our London BRIEF does all of that in a new design that makes it as easy to read on mobile phones as it is to print out or read on your desktop.”

The localisation of the Bloomberg BRIEFs will soon extend to mainland Europe with a German language economic newsletter – Deutschland, currently in beta.
