Brand Republic appoints new editor

Rich Sutcliffe has been appointed as the new editor of Brand Republic – Haymarket Business Media’s website for marketing, media and advertising.

Sutcliffe (pictured) joins from Media Week, also published by Haymarket, where he was digital editor and will take up the new role on September 1. He is the second editor in the site’s history, succeeding Gordon Macmillan, who has edited the site for the past eight years.

Macmillan will take a new role in Haymarket Brand Media as social media and international editor.

Sutcliffe has worked in various roles in magazine and digital publishing over the past 10 years including senior posts at Highbury House and Swinstead Publishing. He joined the Media Week team at the beginning of 2008.

Commenting on his appointment, Sutcliffe says: “Throughout the Brand Media portfolio Haymarket publishes the leading print and digital publications in the industry. To be offered the chance to lead Brand Republic, where we are able to bring together the expertise of award-winning journalists, columnists and editors from across the group, is a great opportunity.”

Matthew Gerry, online publisher, Haymarket Brand Media, says: “Rich combines digital expertise and editorial flair with a deep understanding of our audience. His ideas and leadership are key to the next stage of Brand Republic’s development.”

Gerry adds: “I’d like to thank Gordon for his continued contribution to Brand Republic, which has been critical to the site’s success. Gordon is passionate about social media and brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role.”
