Celloglas applies clear foil to The Big Black Book cover

The latest UK edition of Esquire’s ‘The Big Black Book’ has been given a special foil cover by Celloglas.

The Spring/Summer UK edition of Esquire’s ‘The Big Black Book’ is for the fashionable man who knows how to indulge, says Celloglas. It aims to give its readers the knowledge, the back-stories and the wherewithal to make informed choices. The Big Black Book provides successful men with intelligent guidance on living well. It is an expert on luxury and entirely Esquire.

A quintessentially British take on an American original, the manual is published twice a year – March and September – as a seasonal guide to the finer things in life: fashion, grooming, watches, cars, interiors, food, drink, travel. The first issue – Spring/Summer 2013 – has been on sale in the UK from March 2013.

The cover of the spring/summer issue was finished by Celloglas at their Reading site. The cover was finished with a clear foil over text with a special colour. This allowed the production team to choose a spot colour through print whilst creating an effect that looks like a special coloured foil.

Steve Middleton, Sales Director at Celloglas, commented; “Where design teams would like to use uncoated stock but still achieve a glossy effect on select areas, clear foil is a useful alternative to spot UV, which would ultimately seep into the stock due to the nature of the board.”

Joanne Keogh, Production Manager for Esquire, added; “The sleek design of the cover is really enhanced by the clear foil. The title has been given a glossy lift which contrasts the uncoated stock beautifully.”

The Big Black Book was printed by Cardiff based printers, Westdale Press using UV litho 4 colour, plus 1 PMS spot colour, onto a 350gsm Arcoprint uncoated stock.

Edited, designed and styled by the senior team behind the most sophisticated UK men’s magazine, British Esquire, and calling on some of the best men's style writers and fashion photographers in the business, The Big Black Book is a genuinely useful resource for the aspirational modern man, as well as being a beautiful and luxurious object in its own right, says Celloglas.
