Celloglas unveils new velvet coating

Celloglas has developed a new coating product called Cellocover Velvet.

This new product is applied using the Heidelberg twin coater based at the Celloglas Leicester site. The Heidelberg twin coater can apply up two finishes, allowing for an additional finish like a gloss spot UV. Cellocover Velvet has a matt appearance and feels soft to touch.

Steve Middleton Sales Director at Celloglas commented: “Cellocover finishes are very popular with publishers, due to the fast turnarounds that easily fit within project timescales, we have made a sample magazine cover to show how the finish could be used”. The Heidelberg can process sheets from sizes SRA3 to SRA1.

Steve added: “We also have Cellotouch which is a soft feel lamination, the new Cellocover velvet coating is applied on our Heidelberg twin coater at 15,000 sheets an hour, making Cellocover Velvet a soft feel finish that is better suited to the budget of larger run campaigns.”

According to Celloglas, many finishes can be applied on top of Cellocover Velvet including foiling, screen varnishes or coatings, i.e. gloss spot, fragrance or glow in the dark. Cellocover Velvet also responds well to die cutting and creasing.

Richard Gillgrass commented “Cellocover Velvet is a fantastic innovation from Celloglas, we are continually developing new products for print media as part of our drive to be leaders in innovation.”
