CNBC, the business and financial news channel, has appointed Ted Kemp as Senior News Editor for CNBC.com in EMEA, based at the network’s regional headquarters in London.

In the US, Kemp played a central role in developing the site at launch and now aims to make the European edition of CNBC.com the destination of choice for business and finance news in Europe and beyond.

The European edition of CNBC.com was launched in May 2011, with news, videos, features, market analysis and investor insights. The site also offers free real-time data from exchanges across Europe, including the London Stock Exchange, Deutsche Börse, NYSE Euronext, NYSE and NASDAQ.

According to CNBC, data out last week showed that CNBC.com is the number one stand alone financial website by total page views, and that CNBC.com had its best July ever in terms of uniques and page views, visited by 5.9 million unique users, a 6% increase compared to the same time period last year, and recorded 312 million page views (comScore Media Metrix, July 2011, excludes portal affiliated websites).

Kemp started his career in business journalism at Dow Jones Newswires and also worked as a writer and editor for other business, technology, sports and lifestyle publications including InformationWeek and GQ.

Kemp reports to Patrick Allen, CNBC’s Head of News in EMEA, who said, “Following Ted’s experience and success in the US he was the clear choice to further enhance and grow the European edition of the site. He has a brilliant track record for delivering essential and compelling content which will help drive growth of the site in this region. I am delighted that he is joining our team.”
