Below is a note from Anna Wintour, Condé Nast’s Chief Content Officer and Global Editorial Director of Vogue, regarding the new appointments at Glamour:

Dear All,

Last year, we appointed global editorial directors of AD, CNT, GQ, Vogue and WIRED. Today, I’m so pleased to announce that Samantha Barry has been appointed Americas Editorial Director, Glamour, and Deborah Joseph, European Editorial Director, Glamour. Both Sam and Deborah have demonstrated brilliant leadership as editors in chief in their respective markets, as well as a commitment to growing the Glamour community and reaching new audiences across platforms.

Glamour has already proven itself as a successful global model across twelve markets, most recently with a shared cover star in October, followed by a global virtual event. Sam and Deborah will continue their close editorial partnership to set the brand’s content strategy, vision and tone across markets and on all platforms, while reinforcing local storytelling and reporting. In addition to their new global roles, Sam and Deborah will continue to oversee the local editions of their titles in the U.S. and U.K.

Glamour U.S. has experienced a 24% year-over-year increase in traffic and a 37% year-over-year increase in time spent. In addition, the title has built a social following of more than 13.3M followers across all platforms. Glamour U.K. has experienced a 22% year-over-year increase in traffic and has a social following of more than 4.5M followers, and affiliate earnings are up 164% YoY, year to date. Last week Glamour U.K. had its best commerce week ever, with revenue up 200% YoY. Year to date, Glamour U.S. has increased commerce UVs by +48% YoY and purchases through Glamour.com are up +13% YOY.

Since 2018, Sam has served as editor-in-chief of Glamour U.S. where she has transformed the annual Women of the Year Awards, led the brand to reach record-breaking monthly audiences, and grown video across platforms. Recently, she interviewed First Lady Dr. Jill Biden for Glamour's College Women of the Year.

Deborah has been editor-in-chief of Glamour U.K. since November 2017. She has led the brand’s hugely successful transformation from a print to a digital-first publication and oversees all content and strategy across web, social, video and experiential.

Please join me in congratulating Sam and Deborah on their new roles. Looking forward to Glamour’s next global chapter.
