Condé Nast to launch Glamour Iceland

An Icelandic edition of Glamour magazine will be launched next year, it was announced yesterday by Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman and Chief Executive of Condé Nast International.

Iceland’s Glamour will be the 17th global edition of the famous women’s magazine. The Scandinavian island nation’s leading print, digital and broadcast media company, 365 Media Group, will publish it under a license agreement.

“Glamour is one of the world’s bestselling and best loved media brands. Iceland is a dynamic market, and we believe there will be a strong demand for the brand in print and digitally,” commented Jonathan Newhouse.

Ingibjörg Stefania Pálmadóttir, Chairman of 365 Media Group, remarked, “We are delighted to have reached an agreement with Condé Nast for the publication of Glamour in Iceland. This will be an exciting addition to the Icelandic magazine market, and we are incredibly proud to be a part of this. We believe Glamour has great potential as a cross-platform brand, and our team cannot wait to get started.”

Carol Cornuau, President of Condé Nast International, said, “This is the first international magazine franchise to debut in the Icelandic market, and while Glamour is already established and popular with the female population in Iceland as a result of our international editions, we now look forward to producing editorial tailored to the local market.”

Glamour currently has sixteen print and digital editions and websites, based in the following markets: Brazil, Bulgaria, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Mexico, Latin America, The Netherlands, Poland, South Africa, Romania, Russia, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States. The international readership exceeds 11.7 million a month, says Condé Nast. A launch date for the magazine will be announced in due course.
