Conde titles launch in Turkey and Russia

GQ is set to launch in Turkey in 2012 and Condé Nast Traveller goes on sale in Russia this week.

Gentlemen’s Quarterly magazine will be launched in Turkey in March 2012, it was announced by Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman of Condé Nast International.

Turkey will be the 20th market to boast an edition of the iconic men’s magazine, which is commonly known as “GQ”. The Turkish edition, produced in the Turkish language, will be published in a license partnership with Dogus MediGroup, one of the country’s most successful print and broadcast media owners. Dogus started the Turkish edition of Vogue in 2010, and it quickly established a leadership position.

“GQ is the leading men’s lifestyle magazine in the world,” Jonathan Newhouse, Chairman Condé Nast International, commented. “Condé Nast is pleased to launch this highly successful magazine brand in the fast growing, dynamic Turkish market.”

Carol Cornuau, President Condé Nast New Markets, and responsible for establishing the business in the Turkish market remarked “Our partner Dogus shares our values and belief in excellence, and achieved terrific success with the launch of Vogue. Clearly there is a hunger for glossy, upmarket magazine brands and GQ as the leading, luxury oriented men’s title will meet this need.”

Mirgun Cabas has been named as Editor in Chief of GQ Turkey. Cabas is a well known personality in the country, with an already well-established career in the media including as a Turkish TV presenter and producer.

And also Condé Nast Traveller, one of the world's leading travel magazines, launches this week with its October 2011 issue. The launch of Traveller follows the successful launches of Vogue, GQ, Glamour and AD in Russia. It will be positioned as the most respected source on luxury travel experiences catering to the affluent Russian reader. Condé Nast Traveller Russia will be a monthly publication with the exception of July/August and December/ January, both of which will double up to make one issue. The launch issue will feature model Natalia Vodianova on the front cover.

Alla Beliakova has taken the position of Editor-in-Chief moving from her previous position as Editor-in-Chief of Glamour Russia. Julia Sokol is the Managing Editor, Irina Elizarova the Publisher and Kate Biblova the Advertising Director.

Readers the world over trust every word written in the magazine, say the publishers; every hotel listed has been checked out; every destination thoroughly researched; every travel story has been invested in without exception. The same standards will be instituted in Russia.

Condé Nast Traveller Russia will be the 7th edition of the world's “most discriminating travel publication”. The first edition of the magazine, launched in the United States in 1987, has been the recipient of six National Magazine Awards, the highest honour in magazine publishing, while the UK edition, launched in 1997, has won numerous accolades including the PPA Consumer Lifestyle Magazine of the Year on two occasions.
