Construction begins on new Air Business HO and Distribution Centre

The first dig has been made into the global distribution company’s future premises at Hatfield Business Park where it will join other businesses such as Ocado, F&F and EE in the summer of 2018.

Construction begins on new Air Business HO and Distribution Centre

For the past 17 years, Air Business’ Head Office and main distribution centre has been based in St Albans, Hertfordshire. Having increased its size sevenfold during this time and now processing over 200 million items a year for its customers, the company requires greater space to accommodate its future growth, says Air Business.

A new site at Arlington’s Hatfield Business Park, also in Hertfordshire, is thus set to become the future home of the business within the next year. Situated just five minutes away from its current Head Office and distribution site, the commercial business park was identified as the ideal location for Air Business’ new premises; allowing a smooth and quick transfer from its existing site without any disruption to its operations.

Underpinning the company’s commitment to its ISO certifications, a further attraction of the move was the greater opportunity for energy efficiency, waste reduction and greener processes that the new building will offer.

The construction contractor Winvic began the building works this week, which is currently scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2018.

Adam Sherman, Air Business Group Managing Director, also commented on the move: “Our customer portfolio from both the publishing and e-commerce markets is expanding and we are handling an increasing number of items ranging from printed matter to parcels and packets. We are serious about our growth and the move to Hatfield Business Park is simply a reflection of our need to accommodate this.”

Lenka Booker, Head of Marketing and Strategic Planning at Air Business, who is heading the project stated: “Our constant drive to deliver the best service for our customers lies at the heart of our Head Office move. The new building will revolve around our operational workflow so that our clients will benefit from even more streamlined and efficient processing of their jobs. The location of the new site means that this will also be delivered with no disruption during our move period.”

Daniel Pagella, Commercial Director of Arlington, commented: “We are delighted to be delivering another world class Headquarters for Air Business, who will be joining the long list of prestigious occupiers who have chosen to make Hatfield Business Park their home.”
