CPL lands major new contract with CIM

CPL has been appointed to help deliver a new content and publishing strategy for the Chartered Institute of Marketing.

After a competitive pitch process, CPL has won the contract to create and launch a new quarterly members’ magazine, called Catalyst.

The Cambridge-based agency will also be creating daily content for CIM’s new online hub for articles and thought leadership, as well as providing a media sales service for both channels.

Thomas Brown, Director of Strategy and Marketing at CIM, said the appointment was part of a wider programme to revolutionise how the international professional body supports, represents and develops the marketing community.

"We're beginning with the introduction of a new content and publishing strategy, launching in September with Catalyst, our new official magazine for our member community, replacing our prior title The Marketer.

"For us, this isn't just about tweaking a magazine. We're introducing a profoundly different publication – higher editorial and design quality, more in-depth analysis, and greater recognition of the international nature of our communities – and this is part of a wider shift to put great ideas, insights and thinking at the heart of what we do.

"We set out to find a partner that shared our vision for creating compelling, engaging content. We weren't looking for a contract publisher, we were looking for a content partner that could work with our team to create and curate the best thinking from around the world. That's what we've found at CPL."

CPL managing director Mike Sewell added: “It’s great to start working for CIM at a time when the organisation is undertaking such a radical overhaul of its content and publishing strategy – and we are relishing the opportunity to help shape and influence that strategy.

“CIM’s members work in one of the world’s most dynamic professions, and we feel very privileged to have the opportunity to produce regular digital content and create a new magazine that will reinforce the impact and power of print.”

The CIM contract is the latest win for CPL, whose portfolio includes work for a range of professional membership bodies and corporates, including the Market Research Society, the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, SABMiller and Reed Global.
