Dennis appoints Joe Barnes as Editor of Men’s Fitness

Dennis Publishing has appointed Joe Barnes as Editor of the Men’s Fitness brand. He will take up the post on 13th July 2015, moving from Bauer Media’s FHM.

Barnes joined FHM as Editor in June 2011 where he led the strategic overhaul of the international lifestyle brand, repositioning it editorially and transforming the title from a print-focused business to a multi-channel content provider.

James Burnay, Group Publishing Director of Men’s Fitness said: "I am absolutely delighted Joe has decided to join Men’s Fitness. Health and fitness has never been more relevant to men and I am very excited to see how he and the team are going to move the magazine, app and website forward in the months ahead.”

Joe Barnes said: “I‘m hugely looking forward to starting at Dennis – Men’s Fitness is a great brand but there’s clearly significant potential for growth, especially online and on social media. Today, men want to achieve their personal best in all aspects of their life, and Men’s Fitness should be the brand they turn to to help them achieve this.”

Before FHM, Barnes worked for Front magazine first as news editor and later editor. Previously he worked as a freelance writer for The Guardian, The Sunday Telegraph and The Observer.

Men’s Fitness recorded an ABC readership figure of 45,799 for July-December 2014. The brand already has a strong online and social media community with an average of 500,000 monthly unique users, more than 250,993 Facebook fans and 87,428 Twitter followers, says Dennis Publishing.
