Dennis expands into craft and history sectors

Dennis Publishing, one of the UK’s leading independently owned media companies, has diversified its reach by agreeing the purchase of CrossStitcher, Cross Stitch Collection and Your Family Tree from Immediate Media Co.

Dennis Publishing operates in the automotive, technology, fitness and current affairs sectors, and this acquisition will further the company’s reach as a specialist publisher.

James Tye, Chief Executive, Dennis Publishing said: “Craft and history are two of the areas that are still seeing growth in the UK magazine market. We have a proven track record of acquiring and improving brands in new sectors and this underlines our commitment to continuing growth, both in print and digitally.”

The craft sector continues to demonstrate strong growth in newsstand copy sales and will bring a new audience to Dennis Publishing’s existing portfolio. The genealogy sector, a sub-sector of the History market, continues to be resilient in the current magazine market with strong newsstand copy sales, and will benefit from Dennis Publishing’s recognised excellence in direct marketing, says Dennis.

The transaction is conditional on Competition and Markets Authority approval, as the vendor Immediate Media is selling these titles subject to proposed undertakings to the CMA in the context of its prior acquisition of a number of titles from Future PLC.
