Dennis launches free health & fitness title Coach

Dennis Publishing today announces the launch of Coach – the new multiplatform brand for men who want – or need – to do something to make themselves feel healthier and fitter.

Coach magazine launches with a print distribution of 300,000 across the UK and with a fully responsive website www.coachmag.co.uk that supplements the print product.

At the core of the Coach concept is the idea that all men can improve themselves – whether long-standing gym enthusiasts or fitness newbies. Dennis defined the audience clusters using TGI and extensive focus group data which proved that almost half of men aged 24-55 in the UK want to do more to improve their health. As everyone’s health and fitness interests are as unique as their fingerprint, the magazine mixes general advice, interesting tips, amazing facts and inspiration in an easy to consume package, say the publishers.

The magazine is tailored for busy commuters - a wide and fun entertaining package that never forgets that a major part of looking after yourself is downtime. Targeted at ABC1 men in the 24-55 age range and across a broad range of life stages, Coach provides practical and inspirational content that will help readers do something to improve their wellbeing.

According to Dennis, Coach will launch as the biggest men’s health and fitness magazine in the UK, reaching a total audience of 800,000 from day one. The magazine will have a high quality print distribution with 200,000 being hand distributed within London, in major cities and at prime commuter locations. A further 100,000 copies will be available nationally at carefully selected sports and leisure clubs, gyms, hotels and businesses. The printed product is edited by Ed Needham, who has edited FHM in the US and UK as well as Maxim and Rolling Stone in the US.

The brand launches with a new website Coachmag.co.uk that will complement the weekly magazine providing high quality video tutorials and practical how-to tips. The website is edited by Men’s Fitness editor and ex-FHM editor Joe Barnes, and has a dedicated digital team of seven.

Ed Needham, Editor of Coach magazine, said: “Men want activities that they enjoy and which keep them interested, plenty of inspiration and motivation to get them started and keep them at it, loads of useful information and goals that feel achievable, and all in a package that entertains and fires the imagination. Coach offers readers just that every week.”

"We’ve been planning the launch of Coach for over a year, researching every detail to ensure that it offers the best possible content package for readers and a highly valuable and targeted audience for advertisers.” Ian Westwood, Group MD of Dennis, said.

“You just need to look around you to see that men’s attitude to fitness is shifting – we saw a gap in the market for a magazine that helps men to make practical, manageable changes to improve their lives. Coach does exactly that.”

Coach launches on Wednesday 7th October.
