Digimarc offers new watermark tools

Digimarc has announced it has added two new tools its Online Services Portal that give the ability to easily create digitally watermarked mobile campaigns that give consumers the ability to choose the product or experience that they want before they are connected to a landing page.

With these new options, users can set up recognition of the digital watermarked content to trigger pop-up labels or an interactive menu response. These features are intended to increase consumer engagement, generate instant purchase opportunities and deepen brand loyalty.

“The new tools we’ve added to the Digimarc Discover OSP represent an important step toward achieving our vision for the Digimarc Discover Platform,” said Bruce Davis, Chairman & CEO of Digimarc Corporation. “It’s very exciting to be providing a catalyst that could take the personalization of the consumer mobile experience to another level; the additions of the ‘hot-spots’ and interactive menu options further differentiate Digimarc Discover from the other content identification technologies and platforms.”

Leveraging HTML5, the new tools enable publishers, brands and agencies to create multiple “hot-spots” in, or multiple experiences from, a single image or article.

Multiple hot-spots. Digital watermarks can be used to create multiple hot-spots within a single ad, image, or whole page. The hot spots will initiate a pop-up label to appear onscreen when the user’s smartphone is rolled over the watermarked region. This allows consumers to select the product or item of most interest and – with one tap of the label – access specific product information, ultimately increasing conversion rates.

Multiple experiences. Provide consumers with an interactive menu directly from a single watermarked image or block of text. The menu can offer a range of optional experiences, such as: the ability to learn more about a specific product or item, watch a video tutorial, obtain directions to a specific address or store location, list other retailers where a certain product is available, add an event to a calendar, share via social media, and more.

Publishers, brands and agencies wishing to extend their print-to-mobile campaigns with these new features can do so at no extra charge through the end of March 2012. This beta period provides their Online Services Portal customers time to test the experience in their print publications and advertisements as well as provide valuable customer feedback.

About the Digimarc Discover Platform

Digimarc says: “The Digimarc Discover Platform enables smartphones and other sensor-equipped devices, to "see and hear" media content using built-in cameras and microphones. Consumers simply direct their phone at content they are interested in and are presented with a range of associated network services such as purchase a product, view a video, save for later, download a coupon, or share with a friend, for example. The Digimarc Discover mobile applications are available for licensing and can be integrated into existing applications.

Publishers and others can embed digital watermarks into content using the Digimarc Online Services Portal (OSP). The OSP is being used by magazines, newspapers, packaging companies, advertising agencies, and others to enable a variety of new experiences and capabilities from print."
