Dylan Jones Announced As Honorary Professor

After a process of nomination and recommendation, Glasgow Caledonian University has conferred the title of Honorary Professor on Dylan Jones OBE, Editor of British GQ and Chair of London Collections: Men.

This title recognises the contribution made by Dylan Jones to supporting the advancement of the British fashion sector. In addition, and as a specific recognition of his standing in the industry, the University has awarded Dylan Jones the GCU Lifetime Achievement Award 2014.

GCU Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE said: “I am delighted that we have been able to honour Dylan Jones, who is an outstanding figure in British journalism and fashion through the conferment of an Honorary Professorship and Lifetime Achievement Award. GQ has flourished under his leadership, and his critical analysis of British fashion is widely respected. I am delighted that our students will benefit from the knowledge and experience of our new Professor.”

“I am delighted and honoured to receive such recognition, and I’m looking forward to collaborating with the University and its students. The GCU British School of Fashion is highly regarded for its fashion business post-graduate teaching and research, and as the business of fashion becomes ever more important to the economy, this is a timely moment to reflect on its growth and significance,” added Dylan Jones.

The official conferment of the Honorary Professorship and Achievement Award will place on 2nd July 2014 at the Summer Graduation Ceremony, in Christ Church Spitalfields, and the ceremony will be preceded by a lunch in Dylan Jones’ honour at the Fashion Street campus.
