Edinburgh University Press announces Interim CEO

Edinburgh University Press (EUP) has announced the appointment of Nicola Ramsey as Interim CEO to succeed Timothy Wright, who retires this summer.

Nicola Ramsey: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to lead the business through change over the next 18 months.”

Nicola Ramsey will take up her position on 2nd June 2021.

Head of Books Editorial at EUP since 2012, Nicola has led the strong growth of book publishing at EUP. Nicola is a member of the UUK Open Access monographs working group, and sits on the EUP Board of Management.

Margaret Hewinson, Chair of EUP, said: “We are delighted that Nicola Ramsey is stepping up into this position to drive forward the business for the next 18 months alongside the executive management team. In this challenging working environment it is crucial that we have a CEO who has a detailed understanding of the business and significant knowledge of the issues affecting scholarly publishing.”

Nicola said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to lead the business through change over the next 18 months, at a time when scholarly publishing requires innovation and creativity to continue to serve the academic community in new ways. I am looking forward to working with the management team, the trustees and non-executive directors of EUP to deliver this, and to enrich our relationship as a wholly-owned subsidiary of the University of Edinburgh.”

A new Head of Books Editorial will be recruited to replace Nicola in her current role.
