EMAP launches three more titles using Pugpig

Last Friday, EMAP launched six fully-interactive B2B content apps, powered by Pugpig.

Architectural Review, Retail Jeweler and Ground Engineering all launched using Pugpig for Continuous Publishing on iOS and Android.

Kaldor and EMAP have now launched 20 fully-interactive, B2B content apps across iOS and Android within the past 12 months using Pugpig for Continuous Publishing.

These latest three apps join Retail Week, Nursing Times, Drapers, MEED, Construction News, New Civil Engineer and Health Service Journal (HSJ) as EMAP titles to have adopted a continually updating publishing model.

Rather than simply replicate their print titles, says Kaldor, EMAP has questioned the role of digital titles and created a ‘breaking news’ environment for users. An article is published to the app as soon as it is written, with as many as 25 articles uploaded daily to the highest traffic apps.

EMAP’s large-scale digital roll-out started with the launch of MEED in June 2014 and was closely followed by the launch of HSJ (the 2014 PPA magazine of the year) and Retail Week which now adopts a 'digital first' ethos with 70% of its content published online first, if not exclusively.

According to Kaldor, EMAP benefited from cost savings by using Pugpig across all their apps, and re-purposing the same templates and infrastructure throughout the whole project. After the initial setup phase, subsequent apps were rolled out in under 3 days.

All EMAP titles are available on iOS and Android and allow subscribers to consume the most current content on-the-go with features like offline reading, favourites and social media sharing.

“We’re really pleased to have worked so closely with EMAP and their industry-leading B2B brands over the past year”, says Jonny Kaldor, CEO and co-founder of software house Kaldor. “EMAP are continuing to challenge traditional publishing models with these exciting new apps. As soon as articles are ready, content is pushed live on their websites and now their apps. This ability to publish at any time, allied with careful use of push notifications, can bring a massive increase in customer engagement."

Alice Lewthwaite, Operations and Technology Director at EMAP says: “We are excited and proud to have launched apps for so many brands in such a short time period. In launching continuous-publishing apps, which update with the latest stories as we publish them, we are being true to our strategy of using the latest technology to make sure our valuable professional audiences have access to our award-winning content wherever and however they want it.”
