Emerald re-envisions its Library & Information Science journals

Emerald Group Publishing has changed the names, broadened the scope and appointed new editors to some of its key Library & Information Science journals.

Eileen Breen, Publisher at Emerald, said: “Library Science is becoming more interdisciplinary and outward-looking. Working at the interface with Information Systems research - as well as Information Science and Educational research - is broadening the impact of the field.

“Emerald is therefore adapting to these trends by broadening the scope of several of its titles, making name changes and appointing new editors.”

Changes have been made to the following journals:

* The Bottom Line will now be edited by Bang Nguyen, Associate Professor, School of Business, East China University of Science and Technology and will cover the financial and economic aspects of information and information practice, mainly focusing on the trading of information, information economics, and the ‘business’ of information;

* Interlending & Document Supply will change its name to Information Discovery and Delivery and will be edited by Wu He, Assistant Professor of Information Technology, Strome College of Business, Old Dominion University;

* New Library World will change its name to Information and Learning Science, and is widening its scope to explore all aspects of the creation, collection, discovery and use of all types of information, knowledge, learning and research resources;

* Online Information Review has refined its scope to focus on digital information and communication, and related technologies, and is now co-edited by Dr Jo Bates, Lecturer in Information Politics and Policy; Dr Andrew M. Cox, Senior Lecturer; Dr Paul Reilly, Senior Lecturer in Social Media and the Digital Society; and Dr Angela Lin - all at The Information School, University of Sheffield;
