Emerald’s three-year deal with the FinELib Consortium is in effect from 2021 and will enhance the publishing experience for researchers from 33 of its academic member institutions, giving them access to more than 200,000 articles from 310 journals.
Building on Emerald’s goal of reducing the participation and access barriers to publishing open, the agreement with FinELib includes publishing vouchers which can be used in all Emerald hybrid journals, Gold OA journals and Emerald Open Research; the open peer review platform that supports the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Commenting on this, Arja Tuuliniemi, Head of Services at FinELib, said: “We are very pleased to add Emerald into FinELib transformative agreement portfolio. The agreement with Emerald will give authors unlimited open access publishing for the last two years of the agreement.”
The publisher has also signed a two-year transformative deal with CzechELib – the National Centre for Electronic Information Resources of the Czech Republic (managed by the National Library of Technology of the Czech Republic) – which will allow researchers from seven of its academic and public member institutions to gain access to articles across Emerald’s Premier collection and Management portfolio as well as being able to select journals from subject-specific collections to build a bespoke eJournal library.
Moreover, the deal will accommodate all their researchers’ publishing needs through publishing vouchers to be used in all Emerald hybrid journals in their institution’s bespoke collections.
Jirí Jirát, Head of Licensing and Administrative Unit at CzechELib, commented on the deal: “We are pleased to have reached a quite satisfactory transformative agreement, which offers our authors the option to publish Open Access with Emerald. We see this as a first step that will hopefully pave the way for full inclusion of all Emerald hybrid journals and pure Gold OA journals in our future transformative agreements with Emerald.”
