Essentials appoints Kate Mowatt as Publisher

IPC Southbank’s Essentials has announced the appointment of Kate Mowatt as publisher.

Most recently a publisher for Canada Wide Media in Vancouver, Kate (pictured) has a strong publishing background. Her experience includes work for BBC Worldwide and she was previously launch publisher of Sunday Times Travel.

Kate will report to publishing director Linda Swidenbank and will also have publishing responsibility for Southbank’s woman&home Feel Good Food.

Linda says: “I am really pleased to appoint Kate to this position. She joins Essentials at an exciting time, as it continues to be the fastest growing women's magazine, and we have just released a brilliant debut ABC for woman&home Feel Good Food. Kate has wide publishing experience across a number of titles and I am confident she will quickly build on this fantastic momentum.”

Kate adds: “I am thrilled to be joining IPC Southbank, with its strong portfolio of titles. Essentials is a fantastic magazine and is going from strength to strength, as seen in the recent ABCs. I look forward to working with the team to bring even more success in the future.”

In the latest round of ABCs, Essentials was the fastest growing women’s monthly title, increasing by 12.7% on the year and 9.5% on the period with a circulation of 126,379, says IPC.

Kate takes up her appointment with immediate effect. She replaces Ilka Schmitt who moved abroad.
