Evening Standard expands with Self Select Distribution

The London Evening Standard has this week significantly expanded distribution across the capital.

Distribution has increased from 700,000 daily copies with a target of 900,000 daily copies by March to coincide with the launch of London’s new entertainment channel, London Live.

Copies of the free daily newspaper are now available for the first time in all 32 of London’s boroughs with expansion into supermarkets and across the tube and rail network in the outer zones.

In order to reach target readers, copies will be available to pick up in selected Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda and Morison supermarkets via Self Select Distribution.

Andy Barker, marketing director of Self Select, said: “Supermarket shoppers have shown a real appetite to pick up a copy of the Standard from the display units we have in stores.”

Tim Freeman, head of distribution, Evening Standard said: “We have been working on the expansion plan with Self Select for several months and are delighted to offer more supermarket shoppers across London the opportunity of a regular daily copy”

Andrew Mullins, managing director of Evening Standard Ltd, said the Standard was being taken to "the next level" with more copies and greater reach across the City.
