Fresh look for Kent free series

KM Group’s freely circulated “Extra” series has unveiled an “eye-catching” new look.

The new design for the 8 titles in the series is the result of an extensive research project carried out by Marketing Works across the county in 2008.

Each of the titles in the free newspaper series will feature a new, uniform style. The papers will also continue to be used to create awareness and drive sales of the company’s relevant paid-for titles and promote the significant online and radio offerings.

KM Group will also continue to make all Extra titles available to view for free online. Initiatives such as this led to receipt of the Environmental Newspaper Company of the Year Award at The 2009 Newspaper Awards, says the group.

The Extra series comprises:

* Ashford Extra

* Canterbury Extra

* Folkestone & Dover Extra

* Gravesend, Dartford & Swanley Extra

* Maidstone Extra

* Medway Extra

* Sittingbourne Extra

* Thanet Extra

According to the publisher, collectively, an average of 384,695 copies were circulated weekly across Kent between July and December 2008, reaching 577,000 readers every week.

Brand Manager, Sarah O’Hara says “This is another important step in the development of KM Group’s multimedia platforms. In a changing industry it’s clear that interacting more with the audience and developing user generated content is vital and this is something we are now trialing in the Canterbury Extra. By refreshing these key titles we have opened the channels of communications with our audience and are developing audience touch points.”
