FT Alphaville wins People's Voice Webby Award

FT Alphaville has won the People’s Voice award in the Webby Awards 2009 for best business blog for the second year running.

FT Alphaville is a daily news and commentary service for financial market professionals. Highly regarded in the industry, the FT Alphaville blog has scooped numerous awards, and last year also won the Judges Panel award. 

This year, FT Alphaville beat off strong competition with other nominees including The New York Times’ DealBook, Richard Branson’s blog and the Wall Street Journal’s ‘Deal Journal’ blog. 

FT Alphaville continues to build a dedicated community. There were 15,000 comments made in March 2009 (including those made on the Alphaville Blog, Markets Live and Long Room). During Markets Live which runs each weekday between 11-12am GMT, there are an average of 2,500 people watching and commenting at any one time with this number reaching 6,000 at peak news times, according to the publisher. 

The Webby Awards is a leading international award honouring excellence on the Internet.

Established in 1996 during the Web's infancy, the Webbys are presented by The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences, a 550-member body of leading Web experts, business figures, luminaries, visionaries and creative celebrities.
