Future appoints new President for US business

Future plc, the international special-interest media group, has announced the appointment of John Marcom Jr as President of its North American business, Future US.

John Marcom (pictured) joins Future from AdGent 007, the San Francisco-based digital ad services company, where he was Chief Operating Officer. He brings extensive media industry experience, both commercial and editorial, from previous roles at Yahoo!, the Financial Times, Time Inc. magazines and The Wall Street Journal.

Prior to joining AdGent, Marcom spent four years at Yahoo! where he was Senior Vice President for International Operations, overseeing the company’s businesses outside the US.

Marcom is expected to join Future US in October and will be based at the company’s headquarters in South San Francisco, CA.

John Marcom Jr said: “The North American media market is at a watershed in its development, facing seismic shifts between digital and print channels. Future is at the forefront of trialling new products for a new era and I’m really looking forward to joining and taking on the challenge of helping to map this new landscape.”

Marcom started his career as a journalist with The Wall Street Journal in Asia. He spent 12 years in different editorial roles in London, New York and Tokyo before joining Time Warner Inc. as Development Director in 1993. He held a number of publishing and commercial roles, progressing to President for Time Inc. International.

He graduated in Economics from Princeton University and has an MBA from INSEAD (European Institute of Business Administration).
