Future’s CVG powers MSN UK’s gaming news

Future has been appointed gaming news provider for the popular ‘Tech & Gadgets’ section of Microsoft’s MSN UK portal.

The news updates are powered by a direct feed from CVG, Future’s flagship games news website – opening up a world of exclusive news, media (screenshots and movies), comment and opinion to a brand-new audience at one of the UK’s most popular online destinations.

The content partnership with MSN further cements the reach, authority and influence of Future’s fast-growing CVG. As the company continues to reinvigorate the UK’s longest-established games media brand, it recruited Tim Ingham as Editor in late 2009, to work alongside long-standing Editor-in-Chief, John Houlihan and recently appointed Associate Publisher, Mark Cantwell.

Steven Wilson-Beales, Content Manager, Entertainment for MSN UK, said: “We’re very happy to announce the partnership with CVG who will be covering our gaming news on MSN Tech & Gadgets. They provide an excellent insight into the gaming industry and we’re very proud to be associated with a brand that has such a respected legacy in the market. It’s another opportunity for us to deliver the best possible experience to Tech & Gadget fans when they visit us on MSN. And there’s more to come!“

John Houlihan, Editor-in-Chief of CVG, added: “We’re delighted to bring CVG’s mix of breaking news, cutting edge media and the finest comment and opinion in gaming to a whole new audience on MSN UK. With our revitalised team, record traffic levels and new community features coming soon, this is another huge step forward in an already impressive year for one of gaming’s best loved and most revered sites.”

Before the MSN deal was announced, CVG’s monthly unique user number had grown exponentially throughout 2010, according to Future. Figures from Google Analytics reporting the site’s monthly unique user number had soared to 2.265m – a 68% increase year-on-year to March 2010, with its UK unique users leaping by 26% to 639,424 in the same period.

The CVG powered games news is available now on MSN’s Tech & Gadgets section.
