games celebrates Dark Souls with special foil slipcase

On Thursday 29 September, issue 114 of games went on sale with a special edition cover and commemorative collector’s foil slipcase to celebrate the first review of Dark Souls.

In 2009, games awarded a rare 10/10 to FromSoftware’s Demon’s Souls, calling it “undeniable genius”. On 7 October 2011, its spiritual sequel, Dark Souls, arrives to the expectations of RPG-loving gamers and games’s loyal readership alike. To mark the release, games has partnered with Namco Bandai to deliver the world’s first review to its readers, accompanied by a rare look at the inner workings of Dark Souls creator FromSoftware, all wrapped in a collector’s package lovingly designed to complement Demon’s Souls and Dark Souls on any gamer’s shelves.

“Working with games and Imagine Publishing on this Dark Souls package was an obvious choice,” said Lee Kirton, Marketing Director at Namco Bandai Partners. “Their understanding of the product has led to a great treatment that suits the Dark Souls brand perfectly and provides the fans with a true collector’s package. I look forward to working with them again on our future titles.”

“Dark Souls is exactly the sort of game I enjoy championing; it’s a real gamer’s game that’s not scared to throw down a challenge,” added Rick Porter, Editor in Chief of games. “After the success of its predecessor, it was great to work with Namco Bandai and come up with the perfect celebration package for the fans. I’m really pleased with the results.”
