GardenersWorld.com revamps plant section

Gardenersworld.com, the website accompanying BBC Worldwide’s market leading magazine, has revamped its plant section enabling gardeners to browse its database of more than 2,000 plants.

The website team have compiled a comprehensive collection with gardeners able to use a dynamic search engine to find the ideal plants for their garden. The criteria includes:

* plant type

* soil type

* flower colour

* foliage colour

* sun exposure and hardiness

* feature

* skill level

The plant section also highlights users’ highest rated plants, and recent comments about plants, showcasing contributions from the gardenersworld.com community and helping users get gardening advice from each other. A new A-Z feature ensures that users can easily find specific plants – by common name or botanical name, as well as making sure that search engines can index all the plant pages.

Making the section more relevant to users, the section also joins relevant pages together by feature topic, including best plants for bumblebees, wildlife friendly plants and top ten plants for ponds in one hub.

According to Alex White, digital publisher, BBC Worldwide: “We are delighted to be able to offer users of Gardenersworld.com, whether novice gardeners or experts, an invaluable tool to support their passion for gardening. We hope the new plant section will make the plant database much more relevant and usable.”

Gardenersworld.com claims to regularly receive 250,000 unique users per month.
