Gary Neville joins The Telegraph

Telegraph Media Group has announced that Gary Neville is joining The Telegraph as a football columnist.

Neville’s signing will be marked by an exclusive interview in Saturday’s The Daily Telegraph and on The Telegraph website. He will be writing a weekly column thereafter.

In addition to the regular columns, he will be discussing the key sporting issues with other high-profile figures in a special interview series.

Neville spent his entire playing career at Old Trafford, only ever playing for Manchester United at club level. He made his international debut for England in 1995, and received 85 caps playing for his country.

Since retirement from football in 2011, he has acted as a coach for England, and is a co-owner of Salford City, with his brother Phil, and ex-team mates Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt. He is also a widely admired television football pundit.

Gary Neville said: “I am delighted to join The Telegraph. I've got to think of ways of engaging with the readers like no-one has done before. Simple as that. I set myself the highest standard if I do something. What I've got to give them is something that they've not seen before.

"I want to do pieces that make people think differently. And that's what I'm here to do."

Adam Sills, Head of Sport, TMG, said: “I am thrilled to be welcoming Gary Neville to The Telegraph. Gary is the best football expert around and he will make The Telegraph’s already unrivalled football offering even better. He will be sharing his opinion and insight every week to Telegraph readers in print and on our digital platforms and joins our unbeatable team led by Henry Winter and Paul Hayward.”
