Glamour to go large, again

The September issue of Glamour is upsizing again, it was announced yesterday by Jo Elvin, Editor of British Glamour, and Publishing Director Jamie Jouning.

This follows the critical and commercial success of the supersized March 2014 issue, which saw a significant uplift in newsstand sales as well as an enthusiastic response from fashion and luxury goods advertisers, say the publishers.

The new, large format will be redesigned completely, providing a larger creative canvas for Fashion Director Natalie Hartley’s stunning new look fashion pages. 20% of the September issue magazine run will be published in the larger format, with 100,000 copies distributed nationally, and priced at £2.00.

"Our fashion-obsessed readers have told us they were keen for a repeat of the alternative format collections issue. While our pioneering handbag size remains the number one choice, we’re excited to have the opportunity to showcase the new trends in this way again,” remarked Elvin.

Jamie Jouning added "It’s important that we keep challenging the marketplace, providing consumers and advertisers alike with something new, fresh and exciting."

The size of the alternative issue will be 285mm x 215mm, similar to British Vogue.

The market leader, Glamour's brand footprint is 25% bigger than its closest competitor, says Conde Nast. Glamour has combined circulation of 415,258 (ABC Jul-Dec 2013), readership of 1,091,000 (NRS Jul-Dec 2013) and unique users totalling 3,027,741 (Google analytics Feb-Apr 2014).
