Haymarket signs as partner in Race Online

Haymarket Media Group has signed up as an official partner for Race Online 2012, the government-funded campaign that aims to get the entire UK population (or as near as possible) online within two years.

Haymarket has promised to provide exhibition space at its business-to-business conferences, so that Race Online 2012 can spread awareness of the campaign and meet potential new partners.

Ten million people in the UK have never used the internet. Race Online says that four million of those are also “socially excluded” – the long-term unemployed, the elderly and isolated, and people on low incomes.

The campaign is led by Martha Lane Fox, co-founder of travel site lastminute.com. “It is often the people facing the toughest times who have the most to gain from what technology has to offer,” she says, “and as the internet is rapidly becoming a tool for everyday life, we should work together to make sure everyone can benefit.”

As an official partner of the campaign, Haymarket joins BT, Google, Microsoft, Skype, Sky and Talk Talk, among many others.
