Haymarket signs up to ISO50001

Haymarket Media Group have committed to achieving ISO50001 certification by December this year.

Haymarket says: ISO50001 is a voluntary standard developed by ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) which scrutinises organisations based on energy management.

The certification is achieved by evidence of improved energy performance, which can reduce both energy cost and consumption for businesses. By committing to ISO50001, we will develop a policy for more efficient use of energy, fix measurable targets and review the policy over time to continually improve energy management.

The scheme will be primarily led by Facilities with the support of the Green Team, who meet on a monthly basis to implement objectives and targets to reduce the company's energy usage and environmental impact.

To work towards accreditation, we will be implementing a revised energy management system to complement our existing ISO 14001 environmental accreditation. This means regularly measuring and reporting our energy and transport usages, and implementing plans to reduce wherever possible.

CEO Kevin Costello, said: “Our commitment to achieving ISO50001 demonstrates our active approach to reducing Haymarket’s impact on the environment.

“As a business we are continually reviewing and improving our sustainability performance, and signing up to ISO50001 means we will continue to do this on a much wider scale. As winner of the PPA’s Sustainable Publisher of the Year award for three years in a row, we are firmly establishing Haymarket as the sustainable publisher of choice for our clients and adding the ISO50001 certification will only boost our already strong reputation.”
