Haymarket supports new wildlife campaign

Haymarket joined Prince William and David Beckham this week for the launch of United for Wildlife’s new campaign, #WhoseSideAreYouOn.

United for Wildlife, which launched in February this year was created by The Royal Foundation, led by the Duke of Cambridge, to bring together the world’s leading wildlife charities under a common purpose; to scale up the response to conservation crises and create a global movement for change.

The #WhoseSideAreYouOn campaign aims to harness the power of sport and social media, with a team of global ambassadors from the sporting world working to raise awareness with 15-30 year olds in the fight against the illegal wildlife trade.

Haymarket is supporting the initiative by helping to drive the message across its consumer brands, including Autocar, F1 Racing, FourFourTwo, Stuff, What Hi-Fi? and What Car?.

The campaign launch, which took place at London’s Google Town Hall, saw the Duke address an audience of specially-invited campaigners from a wide range of industries. He explained how the “illegal wildlife trade thrives because it is hidden, often invisible, making it easy for criminals.”

Beckham, who heads up a global team of campaign ambassadors including Andy Murray, Lewis Hamilton and Rahul Dravid, also spoke on the illegal wildlife trade: “It's devastating. It really is devastating. And we're in a world where our generation, and the younger generation can really, really make a difference and we need to do it now.”

Executive Chairman Rupert Heseltine, who attended the launch, commented: “We are proud to be working with The Royal Foundation to support United for Wildlife and raise awareness of this very important campaign. By harnessing the power of our brands we hope to go, in some small way, towards ensuring a sustainable future for wildlife.”
