Lydia Slater: “Harper’s Bazaar has always been my favourite magazine.”

Lydia Slater has been leading the team as Acting Editor-in-Chief of Harper’s Bazaar UK. Prior to taking over as Acting Editor-in-Chief, Lydia was Deputy Editor for the brand. During this time, she expanded the Bazaar at Work programme and launched the Bazaar Summit, an annual conference that champions the career woman, bringing together Bazaar’s readership with women leaders from around the world; an initiative that has become a pillar of the brand, says Hearst.

Lydia will be supported by Creative Director Jo Goodby, Acting Deputy Editor Frances Hedges, Group Fashion Director Avril Mair and Digital Editor Sarah Karmali. Lydia will also be working closely on the Commercial side with Jacqueline Euwe, Chief Luxury Officer.

Lydia Slater says: “Harper’s Bazaar has always been my favourite magazine. I love its inspirational mix of fashion and feminism, culture and creativity, and I’m so excited to have been given this opportunity to build on its unique legacy alongside my brilliant team.”

Matt Hayes, Chief International Brand Officer, Hearst UK, says: “Lydia is an exceptional Editor who is completely immersed in Harper’s Bazaar’s illustrious heritage, and knows exactly how to marry the past with the present to create extraordinary storytelling. Lydia is extremely well-respected in the luxury and fashion industry and is the perfect person to lead the brand. I am very much looking forward to our continued work together.”

James Wildman, CEO, Hearst UK and President, Hearst Europe adds: “Lydia is a wonderfully creative editor and has been a driving force in strengthening our position as the leading premium publisher. Her work with the team across our diversified services has afforded our clients unparalleled offerings within the fashion and luxury market. She has a great understanding of Harper’s Bazaar and I am excited to see her vision for the future for the brand.”
