Hearst & Cambridge Education Group to launch MA in Art & Design

Hearst Magazines UK, the publisher of ELLE, Cosmopolitan, Esquire and Harper’s Bazaar, has partnered with global education specialists Cambridge Education Group to launch a Master’s degree in Art & Design.

The contemporary MA has been designed in partnership with the education group’s Cambridge School of Visual & Performing Arts (CSVPA) as an ideal springboard for art and design practitioners who want to work in the cultural and creative industries.

Launching in September 2016, the 18-month MA will give students access to regular workshops with Hearst’s expert teams. Students will have the opportunity to be involved in industry projects and to be considered for a number of internships across Hearst’s brands worldwide.

MA specialisms available will include Fashion Design, Fashion Promotion, Interior Design, Animation, Photography, Fine Art, Communication Design, Graphic Design and Illustration. Hearst brands will support specific specialist streams, leveraging the expertise within the individual brands. For example, Fashion specialists will link closely with ELLE UK, Harper’s Bazaar and Esquire magazines, while Digital Spy will support Photography and Animation. Interior Design will be supported by know-how from Elle Decoration, House Beautiful and Country Living.

Anna Jones, CEO of Hearst Magazines UK, says, “This exciting partnership is a natural extension of our brands, creating new touchpoints for audiences around the world. Through our collaboration with Cambridge Education Group we want to foster creative growth by providing expert guidance and support to talented students.”

Fergus Brownlee, CEO of Cambridge Education Group, says: “It’s hard to imagine a stronger combination: CEG’s proven track record in international education, our tremendous global sales and marketing network, and our art school’s outstanding teaching credentials, united with Hearst’s immensely powerful brands, huge audience reach, and positioning - right at the heart of the creative industry. It’s a fantastically exciting model.”
