Hearst to ditch plastic wrap

Hearst UK has pledged to replace plastic magazine bags with sustainably-sourced paper wraps on subscriber copies by January 2020.

This is, says the company, part of Hearst UK’s commitment to champion its ISO 14001 certification – the international gold standard in environmental business management – that the company was awarded this year.

Following a move to a new and more efficient head office in Leicester Square last year which uses 100% renewable electricity, contributes zero waste to landfill and employs a three-stream waste separation system, Hearst UK is reviewing all its environmental business practices, including staff education and travel.
