Johnston Press appoints Camilla Rhodes

Johnston Press, one of the UK's leading regional media groups, has announced that Camilla Rhodes will become a Non-Executive Director of the Company with effect from 13 July 2009.

Camilla Rhodes (pictured) is a very experienced media executive who has held a number of senior positions during a 28 year career at News International (NI).

Among her senior roles at News, she was Managing Director of Times Newspapers, publisher of The Times and The Sunday Times, from 1997 to 2001, before becoming Managing Director of News Group Newspapers, publisher of the Sun and the News of the World, from 2001 to 2005. In 2005, she set up News Magazines, a standalone magazine publishing division. Camilla left NI in late 2008 to pursue other business opportunities in media and online.

Camilla has also held several board positions on news industry bodies, including the Advertising Standards Authority, the National Readership Survey, the Newspaper Publishers Association and the Newspaper Marketing Association Council. She is a graduate in economics from University College London.

Ian Russell, Chairman of Johnston Press, commented: “Camilla has had an enormously successful career in our industry, rising to the most senior levels of News International. I am delighted that she is to join our Board and I am confident that her very considerable media experience will benefit Johnston Press and further strengthen the Board.”
