Kent and Sussex Courier named Weekly Paid-For Newspaper of the Year

The Kent and Sussex Courier walked away with one of the top awards at the 2011 EDF Energy London and South of England Media Awards.

The Courier Media Group paper was named Weekly Paid-For Newspaper of the Year at the event, held at Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The Courier also picked up an individual honour with Louise Ford winning the Columnist of the Year award.

Courier editor Ian Read said: "What's really pleasing is that it wasn't just one story or a particularly standout news event that won it for us; the judges were impressed at the overall package we offer readers each week. News, features, letters, business, community news, Go!, our columnists, sport, supplements, promotions, advertising features – all the ingredients that comprise the Courier are put together meticulously and with passion.

"So this award is a wonderful recognition of the hard work of everyone at the Courier."

The other big winner for Northcliffe was the Croydon Advertiser which scooped two of the top individual prizes, with Newcomer of the Year for Nikki Jarvis and Weekly Print Journalist of the Year for Gareth Davies.
