London Live moves to create better synergy across ESI platforms

London Live is to boost its focus on its news and current affairs output, with a knock on reduction in originally commissioned and acquired entertainment content, a move to align its content more closely with the London Evening Standard.

The fresh emphasis will capitalise on the Standard's unique provision of London news, information and features as well create closer synergies with ESI Media's growing print and online platforms, says ESI Media.

The evolution from originally commissioned and acquired programming towards greater news and current affairs content will naturally lead to a corresponding shift in the London Live team structure. Roles on the commissioning & programming team will be affected; the resource will be reapportioned into the News & Current Affairs team which will see new positions created in the coming months.

London Live says it will continue to be a 24/7 news and entertainment channel delivering 8 hours of fresh content a day honoring its OFCOM licence commitments.

Tim Kirkman, Chief Operating Officer, London Live, said: “London Live burst onto the scene in March and as the capital’s first 24/7 TV channel it has delivered some impressive firsts. From its pioneering DSLR news studio, to 25 originally commissioned series including Food Junkies, F2 and Drag Queens of London – consistently delivering audiences of more than 300,000 – London Live has delivered on its remit to deliver talked-about, noisy London content that punches above its weight, outshining traditional broadcasters with its fresh tone of voice and approach.

“I am extraordinarily proud of what Jonathan Boseley, Head of Programming and Commissioning and his team have achieved, in record time, and delivered on previously unheard-of tariffs, but I am also excited to take the station in a new editorial direction this autumn that will capitalise on ESI Media’s unique attributes to take the channel from strength to strength into its next season and beyond.”
